The Kular Team Mission
Net Zero Must Not Mean Zero Security
Europe stands at a crossroads. The transition away from fossil fuels is certainly an environmental challenge, but it also represents a strategic battlefield. We made one catastrophic mistake by allowing a single authoritarian state to dominate our gas supply. Now, in the rush to atone for that error, we are making another. We are handing control of our renewable infrastructure to a different regime.
The solar panels on our roofs, the batteries in our vehicles, and the inverters in our grids are overwhelmingly manufactured by entities beholden to Beijing.
This is not progress. This is dependency dressed in green.
The Need for Trusted Partnerships
Europe’s energy security requires partnerships with aligned democracies. Diversified supply from trusted allies offers genuine resilience without creating new strategic vulnerabilities. Secure energy imports kept European homes warm when pipelines were weaponised. Allied nuclear technology offers a genuine path to clean, reliable, baseload power without surrender to hostile supply chains.
Kular Team documents why a diversified approach – one that prioritises trusted partners over cheap adversaries – strengthens European autonomy. True sovereignty is built on partnerships among democracies, not contracts with autocracies.
What We Do
Research
We gather and organise data European and Dutch energy infrastructure investments, mapping where non-NATO state actors are gaining footholds in critical systems. Kular Team provides access to comprehensive reports and articles on supply chain vulnerabilities, mapping out the chokepoints where Europe is dangerously reliant on Eastern production. From rare earth minerals to battery manufacturing, we expose the weak links before they become kill switches.
Public Education
The public has a right to know who owns their energy. The Kular Team Grid Watch breaks down complex geopolitics into actionable intelligence for concerned citizens and industry professionals.
Our Core Values
Transparency
We reject the notion that cost alone should determine our infrastructure partnerships. The cheapest option is rarely the safest.
Vigilance
Kular Team monitors foreign acquisitions, technological backdoors and legislative loopholes that allow hostile actors to embed themselves in our systems.
Autonomy
By diversifying our partnerships and rejecting single-source dependencies, we build resilience. Self-reliance through trusted alliances is the only sustainable model.
The Data Tells the Story. We Just Gather It.
Kular Team’s aim is simple: a European energy grid that cannot be switched off by distant capitals. We document a case for a future where the lights stay on because systems were built by Europe and with partners who share European values, not because of hoped-for mercy from rival superpowers.
